A bill for an act
relating to public health; requiring the commissioner of health to seek funding
for environmental justice mapping.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin FUNDING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE MAPPING.

new text begin The commissioner of health, in conjunction with the commissioner of the Pollution
Control Agency, shall apply for federal funding to renew and expand the state's
environmental justice mapping capacity in order to promote public health tracking. The
commissioner shall coordinate the project with the Pollution Control Agency and the
Department of Agriculture in order to explore possible links between environmental health
and toxic exposures and to help create a system for environmental public health tracking.
The commissioner shall also make recommendations to the legislature for additional
sources of funding within the state.
