A bill for an act
 relating to natural resources; appropriating money for ecological services for
native habitats.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2009 are appropriated
from the heritage enhancement fund to the commissioner of natural resources for collecting
and delivering ecological information on Minnesota's native habitats and associated
species to state agencies, individual citizens, and local units of government and to assist
with local community and state efforts to manage and restore native habitats. The money
is appropriated in each year as follows: (1) $500,000 to develop ecological expertise on
Minnesota's native habitats and associated species; and (2) $1,500,000 to manage and
restore native habitats through private stewardship efforts and on state natural areas.
